We know that political seats are a hot item, and I guess this one is no exception. (Ok, maybe not exactly like that one).
But...
In what I believe to be a really smart move, Wizards guard, Gilbert Arenas donates $25,000 to the Wizards Care organization in exchange for the seat that President Obama sat in during February's Wizards v Chicago home game.
“President Obama was so gracious to sign the chair that he occupied during the game for us,” said Wizards Senior Vice President of Community Relations Judy Holland.
“It was our full intention to auction off this historic item to raise funds for Wizards Care. However, when Gilbert found out about this unique opportunity to own a piece of history, he stepped up with a tremendous bid. Everybody is a winner because of Gilbert’s generosity.” (Source)
Not only does Gilbert have his Presidential mural in his home, his presidential tattoo on his fingers, he now owns a chair that our 44th president sat in.
Gilbert Arenas. Proving that good things really do come in threes (and a whole lotta Gs).
Side bar: Gil, if you're still in the 'donating mood' I could use a few funds over here. I need a home to call my own. Seriously.
(Is it me, or is President Obama making major sports news this week?)
