Can Wizards' JaVale McGee Contend With Blake Griffin?

Blake wins the Sprite Slam Dunk contest. But he's still no Demetrius 'Hook' Mitchell.

Okay, so Griffin won the NBA Slam Dunk contest this weekend with his on-the-court choir singing 'I Believe I Can Fly', and his Kia parked right under the basketball court. But honestly, compared to this that wasn't an over-the-car-dunk at all.

Griffin didn't even go over the top. (Video)

But 'Hook' did. And he needed no help. (We had to go waayyy-y back in the DC UrbanSports archives to find this one. But it's still legendary).

And if you like players who jump over moving cars, there's always this.

2011 NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest

John Wall won this year's All-Star rookie MVP honor: 22 assists. Not bad. "It was so easy", said Wall.

But all eyes will be on JaVale McGee as he performs in this year's Sprite Slam Dunk contest. He'll have his work cut out for him as he goes against LA Clipper's mega dunk master, Blake Griffin, who scored off of Wall's bounce pass an ally-oop dunk during last night's rookie challenge.

The pass became the contest's Play of the Day. (Watch again)
