Please stop bothering Dan, he's not changing the Redskins' name

It was  October of last year when we last reported on the ongoing dispute between people who find the name of the Redskins' organization offensive, and those who don't.

The name change debate has kicked up a knotch in the wake of the racist LA Clippers/Donald Sterling scandal, and has included members of Congress in the mix.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) was on the House floor last month all but pleading with the Redskins organization to change the team's name.

Said Senator Reid in April: “Today, we urge you, and the National Football League, to send the same clear message as the NBA did: that racism and bigotry have no place in professional sports,” the letter reads. “It’s time for the NFL to endorse a name change for the Washington, D.C. football team.”

You can follow what happened next, with the fan tweets and all, but the message is still that the team isn't planning to change the name (any time soon) so please don't bother Dan Snyder or Redskins' GM Bruce Allen with this topic anymore.

Allen wrote a letter to Senator Reid, advising him of such (kind of).

About that Twitter thing

When the Redskins asked their fan base to Tweet how much they loved the Redskins name, you could imagine there would be a few who weren't feeling the love as much as the organization had hoped.

In an almost NYPD tweet fail fashion, people took to Twitter to express their thoughts.

Update ***** June 6, 2014

**Training Camp begins July 24th in Richmond, VA - The team will practice jointly with New England Patriots Aug. 4-6.

**The Washington Redskin Cheerleaders and MY Lifestyle will host their inaugural charity football game, the Burgundy and Gold Game, on Sunday, June 8 at 1 p.m. at Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington, D.C.

Interesting take on the name, isn't it?  Not to mention the fact that some will see this as another opportunity for the Redskins to denegrate another American demographic - women.  No word on whether Congress, (or Code Pink) will send a letter Dan Snyder's way, opposing the idea.

In other NFL news: Is there a Lil RG3 on the way?

We couldn't help but wonder back in January of this year if a little RG3 was in the oven when we saw pics of RG3 and his wife, Becky, on the beach in Hawaii during the NFL Pro Bowl.

That was four months ago.
