** Michael Vick Off House Arrest
After two years of confinement, losing millions, and his integrity - for dog fighting - Mr. Vick finally loses his ankle 'low jack'.
Picking up the pieces may be difficult. Returning to the NFL may be a challenge, but we think Mr. Vick will be just fine. Even with naysayers like these guys breathing down his back.
Give it a rest already. Can't they go after all those people who mistreat the hordes of cats, dogs, and birds they live with?
The M Vick animal cruelty/dog fighting case is a dead horse (no pun intended) in my opinion. Get over it! The dogs have been saved, they're doing fine. Sign Vick and get on with it already.
Question: Is that Washington Nationals cap a sign of things to come?
** Wizards Sum Up Summer League
Summer may not be as hot as you're used to, but the Wizards are burning up the NBA's Summer League games, with Nick Young and JaVale McGee putting up major points. McGee scored 31 points over the Knicks in Sunday's 89-84 win. The win over the Knicks rounds out July's three wins, two loses, ending the Summer League on a rather good note. Wouldn't you say?
** Mystics Win By One
Lindsey Harding boasted 23 points, seven rebounds, and five assists to help the Lady Mystics win a tough fourth-quarter rally to beat the New York Liberty 68-67 Saturday in front of the home crowd.
WNBA All-Star nominee, Alana Beard, put up 13 points in the win that put the Mystics over the .500 mark. Go Mystics!
** Washington Kastles Playoff Bound. Increase Roster.
The Washington Kastles, the team that brought you Serena and Venus Williams, Anna Kournikova, and John McEnroe, are proving again that DC has some of the finest summer sports teams around. The Kastles prepare to host the Eastern Conference New York Sportimes (yep, those guys again) on July 25th, and have signed tenth-ranked women's singles player, Nadia Petrova.
The Kastles have three matches remaining in regular season action starting with tomorrow's (7/21) home game against the New York Buzz, followed by Wednesday's (7/22)contest against the Springfield Lasers before tackling the New York Sportimes on Friday (7/24).
The Kastles lost to the Kansas City Explorers, 24-17, on Saturday.
**Just Added**
When Athletes Model
And lastly, I leave you with these. (Very, very happy to do so).
Check out this picture of Redskins' draft pick, Brian Orakpo modeling a Hugo Boss graphic t-shirt and khaki pants (with Gucci belt) from Saks Fifth Avenue.
He does look stunning, doesn't he?
More pics of Orakpo, along with Nats' Ryan Zimmerman, and DC United's Santino Quaranta in the July issue of Washington Life Magazine's cover story called The Men of Summer. And summer it tis!
I love Orakpo in the orange shirt and khaki pants. Haught, and Fiine!
Speaking of the Redskins!
