McEnroe Madness Ensues During Kastles vs Sportimes Match!

Gets Penalized For His Familiar 'Unsportsmanlike Conduct'

Two of World Team Tennis' best Eastern Conference favorites went at it last evening on a sweltering DC summer evening under bright lights, familiar happenings, and an unfortunate lost for Washington Kastles from rival, the New York Sportimes.

The Kastles (5-5) were two points shy of beating John McEnroe and the first-place New York Sportimes, in a 7-5 super tiebreaker.

The loss ended the Kastles' five-match win streak.

Where Have We Heard This Before?

In the eighth game of the Men's Doubles event, with the Kastles' Leander Paes and Scott Oudsema leading McEnroe and partner Robert Kendrick 4-3, tempers flared as the crowd, brought to its feet, watched in anticipation of what might happen next.

Paes (who starred down a camera man in Tuesday's Newport Beach Breakers game after almost running into the camera on a return serve) hit Sportimes' Kendrick with a volley at the net.

In true McEnroe "You Cannot Be Serious!" fashion, John and Sportimes' coach, Chuck Adams got into a heated verbal exchange of words with Paes, and received a code violation for unsportsmanlike conduct.

When it comes to McEnroe, I think Prince sums it up best - Controversy.

Olga Rules Women's Doubles.

In Women's Doubles Kastles' Olga Puchkova and Grand Slam winner Rennae Stubbs took on the Sportimes team of Spears and Christina Fusano. Stubbs and Puchkova defeated their opponents 5-2.

Olga also went head-to-head in the Women's Singles event against Sportimes' Abigail Spears, who is ranked fourth-best this season in WTT action. After a rocky start, Spears won the event 5-3.

What's Next?
The Kastles, in their continuing race for a spot in the Playoffs, take on the Kansas City Explorers this Saturday in Kansas City at 7:35 p.m.

Mac needs to learn how to behave. He's too old to be having temper tantrums like this.

What message does he send to all those kids watching?

Here's a entire list of his tirades.

Be mature McEnroe. Be mature.

Mac was a good tennis player earlier in the year. I, too, wonder why he was allowed to carry on like he did for all those years.

Was he ever fined for his behavior, or did tennis officials just let him slide?

I don't think too many other athletes get away with acting like that. If they do, I'd like to know who they are.

I can't believe he hasn't gotten a beat down by now.

I tend to think it's all showmanship at this point.

Unless he REALLY has anger management issues (which then he should be treated for).

Nobody in the professional sports world behaves as badly as this guy.
