Guns In The Locker Room? Mums The Word for Gilbert Arenas.

The world of sports and athletes (politicians, celebrities, and regular folk like you and I) is full of redemptive stories, and second chances.

You do something that isn't too cool, but with a little luck, paying out a lot-a-loot, and with the forgiveness of your team, the owner - and the NBA Commissioner - one might just be okay and on the road to recovery.

Apparently we've had two redemptive stories this week in sports. Michael Vick gets to start as the Jets starting quarter, and Washington Wizards' gun-toting point guard gets welcomed back to the fold. This time by NBA Commissioner, David Stern.

Of course, with at least one condition - that he vows never to speak of the 'incident' (at least to the media) ever again.
"I said, You know what Gilbert?, I just want to tell you, I'm delighted to have you back, you've paid a heavy price, but you're in good standing and, as far as I'm concerned, you should be talking only about the future and not about the past. And if anyone asks you why, you can say the commissioner told you."

Heavy endorsement, I'd say. That's like a multi-billionaire putting up collateral for your bank loan. Or being in good hands with All State (before their rep tanked after Hurricane Katrina).

The Wizards have indeed been focusing on the new season adding NBA First Round Draft pick John Wall to the roster and enticing fans with a midnight invitation to attend the training camp 2010 which starts September 28th.

With new ownership in Ted Leonsis, and the Verizon Center's food woes (hopefully) behind us, it's time for some (winning) NBA basketball in Washington!

Gilbertology aside, are you ready?
