Female Sports Reporter Gets Apology.

Meet Ines Sainz. She's a 'reporter' from the Latina network, Mexico's TV Azteca. (Appropriately titled, some would say).

Here's a picture of Sainz, the Happy-Go-Lucky Sports Reporter being playfully carried along by two football players.

Here's Sainz in a wedding gown as she prepares to propose to (the very married) Tom Brady during the 2008 Superbowl media day.

Here's Sainz in her work attire on the sidelines of a football game.

Sainz Says

If you're familar with the words of the song that goes like "I'm too sexy for my shirt. Too sexy." You may understand, after viewing the above pics, why some would say Sainz is attractive, and may be too sexy for her job.

At least the New York Jets think so. Sainz said she felt uncomfortable after waiting to interview the Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez.

"I feel very uncomfortable! I'm at the lockers of the Jets waiting for Mark Sanchez while trying not to look anywhere!!" the 9-year veteran tweeted yesterday.

Apparently, she was receiving some unwelcomed attention that made her feel embarrassed. (As if her antics weren't enough to garner that feeling).

Question, though: If she is a nine-year veteran of the media, why is she umcomfortable going into the men's locker room? That is POTJ! (Part of the job).

Probably, what isn't part of the job is all the antics she's provided for the NFL over the years. (The fact the NFL allows her behavior is also questionable).

“I am very well known for my image,” Sainz says. “I am not pretending to be provocative, only to be attractive.” (More)

Tweets like this tweet I read today that said, "If INES SAINZ is a reporter, Katrina was an accident", fill the Internet.

Apologies Galore

The Jets head coach, Rex Ryan (who in my opinion is not a man of moral aptitude. After all, what coach would have a contest where his players are named the 'Ugliest Man on the Team?) reportedly asked players to throw footballs and make catches in the direction of Sainz.

While the Jets have issued this statement, "We will continue to work with the League to gather the facts and take any appropriate steps necessary to maintain a respectful environment for the media", our own Redskin, Clinton Portis, has had to issue an apology of his own (after some pressure from the Redskins organization) for making a statement about women reporters in men's locker room. (Hey, Portis. Put your narcissism aside).

Even the team's VP of communications went on the defensive saying in a statement, “The Washington Redskins have a clear and unambiguous policy about being professional on these issues and we will take the necessary steps to remind everyone about it.”

In my opinion, that should include the coaching staff.

Apology accepted.
