A 'Skins Merry Shopping Spree!

The Washington Redskins kicked off the Holiday season in style today by taking local kids Christmas shopping at a Target near Redskins Park.

The Renaldo and LaTanya Wynn Family of Faith Charity made sure Christmas (would come early) and a little brighter for local students of elementary aged students by treating each student to a $100 shopping spree.

LaTanya shared with us Christmas as she was growing up and the need to give back to the community.

"We were wondering how we could give back and help kids, and have it be fun. My mom being a single mother, worked hard to try to have Christmas presents for us every Christmas, and it was four of us, so we wanted to help single parent families, and kids less fortunate."

With help from Redskins players Shawn Suisham, quarterback Jason Campbell, Mike Williams, Will Montgomery, Hunter Smith, Rocky McIntosh, wide receiver Marko Mitchell, along with the Target staff, the kids went aisle to aisle shopping for the toy of their choice. (Thoughtful: Some kids surprised their siblings and parents with gifts, as well).

Carts began to fill up during the thirty minute, timed shopping extravaganza that caught a few unsuspecting Target customers off guard as they reveled at the sight of their favorite Redskins player.

LaTanya and Renaldo began the initiative in Jacksonville and never expected their good dead would be such a hit.

"We never thought it would it grow into something so big, but it's everything good just to see the kids happy. It's been a blessing for us just to see them happy."

Most seen toys in the shopping cart: Hello Kitty, video games (Modern Warfare II/Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed II), clothes, twins doll set, cell phones, board games, GI Joe, Transformers, and toy cars.

Redskin Player Christmas Wish List:
On LaTanya Wynn's wish list: "I just want my family to be blessed, and healed, and whole", she said.

That was the sentiment of most Redskins players when we asked what they wanted for Christmas. There was a request, however, for a white, fully loaded, BMW 750LI (22s, white interior) from this guy, and Mike Williams and Doug Dutch both wished for a few more wins this season.

North Pole Santa vs South Pole Santa: As Explained by offensive tackle Mike Williams:
"Santa Claus is at the North Pole Santa. I'm more like a South Pole Santa Claus. We serve collard greens down there at the South Pole. Collard greens, corn bread, that's at the South Pole. North Pole you get pumpkin pie. South Pole Santa, sweet potatoe pie."
