What A Difference A Day (In The NBA Draft) Makes!

Thomas Traded, Songalia Sent, Pecherov Pounced!

“Everyone on the contract will stay, unless we make a trade”, is what we were told yesterday by Wizards president, Ernie Grunfeld; and low and behold, what do we have here?

Washington, we have a trade. A few of them, to be exact.

Etan Thomas - traded. Darius Songaila - traded. Fifth pick - gone. Oleksiy Pecherov - see ya!

Wizards add Randy Foye and Mike Miller from the Minnesota Timberwolves, that some say would keep them quite above the luxury-tax threshold.

Etan Thomas, (contract signed, sealed, delivered) says the trade is "a win-win", and a "blessing".

"I'm ready", added Thomas.

Foye and Miller make up Minnesota's two key point guards, which the Wizards' front office obviously feel is a much needed commodity.

Here’s what we know, right now.

Added Grunfeld,
"We appreciate the contributions that Etan, Darius and Oleksiy made to the team and the community during their tenures in Washington," said Grunfeld. "We wish them the best and we're pleased to have been able to accomplish a trade that benefited all parties involved."
Stay tuned Wizards fans, there’s more to come.

Sorry to see Etan go. But if this trade brings great talent to the existing team of now ready to go (ret-to-go) players, the Wiz should be contenders for next season for sure!

Come on Gil. Where are you?

So if we're getting new guards, what's to happen with DeShawn Stevenson?

I have complete faith and confidence in Ernie's and Abe's decisions for the direction of this team's future.

This makes me un-ez.

The Wizards needed all the help they can get. I hope they DO NOT trade Andre Blatche. He has pockets of superb talent, and he should remain with the team.

I'm open and reception to it.

All I can say is Grunfeld really knows how not to 'give his hand away'.

He obviously knew of the trades during the presser yesterday - especially Thomas (who I asked about) but made no mention of anything until it was official.

The Wizards have upped their coaching staff, made significant efforts to get the best players. I think they can be a force to reckon with this coming year!

Go Wizards!
