What ChatGPT says about the Washington Commanders, and their chances of winning this season.

If you aren't aware of what ChatGPT is, it's an algorithm that let's you have human-like conversation with your computer. Liken it to a new style of search engine, or Google, for a new information age. You can ask ChatGPT almost anything and you will likely get a response.

Whether you find the response favorable is another topic.

The Washington Commanders: Who are they now?  (Photo: WC web site.)

As there have been many new developments surrounding the topic of the home team's franchise, and as the team has entered into training camp mode, we decided to test the AI super thinker to see what it would say about the Washington Commanders football team.

For fun, we asked ChatGPT if the Washington Commanders is a legitimate football team. Here's what we got in response.

"As of my last update in September 2021, there was no well-known or established football franchise known as the "Commanders" in the National Football League (NFL). However, it's worth noting that the NFL is a dynamic organization, and teams can be renamed or new teams introduced in the future.

The information might have changed beyond my last update, and I recommend checking more recent sources or official NFL announcements to get the latest information on football franchises. You can visit the official NFL website or reliable sports news outlets for the most up-to-date and accurate information on NFL teams and franchises."

Ad. People celebrate the removal of Dan Snyder with Dan Snyder is gone merch.

Then we hit the 'regenerate' button, much like the refresh button for your computer, and got this response.

"As of my last update in September 2021, there was no widely known professional football franchise called "The Commanders." It's possible that a team with that name could have been established or rebranded after my knowledge cutoff, as sports teams and their names can change over time due to various reasons, including relocations, rebranding, or the creation of new teams.

If "The Commanders" is a new football franchise, I wouldn't have information about it in my current dataset. I recommend checking the latest news sources, sports websites, or official football league websites to get up-to-date information on football franchises."

Oh snap!

Did we just find out find out that ChapGPT doesn't know everything, about everything, as it portends?

Ok, so cGPT may not know much about the franchise. Maybe it knows something about its former owner, Dan Snyder. So, we asked the question everybody wants to know.

Will Dan Snyder selling the football team equal more wins this season? Here's the response we received.

"As an AI language model, I cannot predict the future or specific outcomes with certainty. Whether Dan Snyder selling a football team (assuming you are referring to the Washington Football Team, as of my last update in September 2021) will improve the team's overall win status would depend on various factors.

A change in ownership can potentially have both positive and negative effects on a sports team. It may bring new management, coaching staff, and a different overall approach to team operations, which could lead to improved performance on the field. Additionally, a new owner might be more willing to invest in player acquisitions and facilities, which could also contribute to better performance.

However, it's important to note that success in sports is influenced by many factors, including player talent, coaching strategies, team culture, injuries, and competition within the league. A change in ownership alone may not guarantee improved performance, and success in sports is often unpredictable.

Ultimately, only time will tell whether a change in ownership will have a positive impact on the team's win status. It's essential to stay updated with the latest news and developments surrounding the team to see how things unfold."

Aw, cGPT, you may be on to something after all.

The DC fan base has seen lots of 'changes' with its football team, and has held high hopes with every change, every new player, every new quarterback (there have been many), every new coach (there have been many), every new offense, new defense; heck, even every new OC, DC, and mascot.

These new changes have usually left the fan base frustrated and feeling like they didn't get their money's worth.

But once again, fans are on the bandwagon hoping for the best, this time hoping new team owner Josh Harris and friends (to be clear, we didn't cGPT Josh Harris) can take them to the Promise Land of football royalty.

Oh, the fans are so loyal.

But if history repeats itself, as it has over the last decade (or so) will the fans, the NFL, and the city of Washington, D.C. be duped, yet again, into believing that another new era will bring more wins, less off-the-field antics, more than one Playoff game (should we get to the Playoffs), more of a quarterback who knows how to command the field and dominate games, and players who can consistently execute plays?

As cGPT told us, "only time will tell."

Are you here for it (again)?

We are both hopeful, and doubtful.
