The Washington Mystics and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield have partnered to hold a diaper drive on Sunday, August 15 prior to the game against the Seattle Storm. Tip off is at 4:00 p.m.
The diaper drive will benefit the March of Dimes’ Mama and Baby Bus. The first 150 participants will receive a pass to attend that evening’s autograph session. The Mama and Baby Bus is the first and only prenatal/dental mobile unit in the city, it provides free prenatal and dental care to pregnant women in wards 1, 2, 4 and 5 in Washington, D.C. The mobile unit parks at six different locations every week.
In addition to sponsoring the diaper drive, CareFirst will donate $100.00 for every three pointer made by the Washington Mystics during the 2010 season as part of the Community 3’s initiative. Thus far, $12,300 has been raised for the Mama and Baby Bus, this year’s beneficiary of the Community 3’s program.
The Mystics are currently in fourth place in the eastern conference with a record of 16-12.
