Out of Washington

Question!

Why do professional athletes seemingly fare better once they leave Washington sports?

Let's look at a few professional athletes, of recent memory, who once played Washington sports, but have now gone on to make a better name for themselves.

Shawn Springs, formerly of the Washington Redskins. In today's playoff game against the B'more Ravens. Obviously, having a better season that if on the Redskins.

Shaun Suisham, former Redskin kicker, currently playing for the Dallas Cowboys in what he's probably calling the best move that has ever happened in his career. Suisham is in the playoffs, and kicking his butt off. (This is the Cowboys' first playoff win since 1996).

Roger Mason Junior, formerly of the Washington Wizards -- traded because he wanted more playing time. Currently playing (more) for San Antonio Spurs, and loving it.

Darius Songaila, formerly of the Washington Wizards, now playing for the New Orleans Hornets who are 16-19 at time of publication.

Even Jason Taylor, who the Redskins acquired last season, is happy and playing better now that he's back in Miami.

Certainly, there are more athletes than on this list, but my question remains the same... What is it about sports in Washington, DC that has athletes faring better once they leave?

Just asking.
