Butler's 3rd Annual High School Basketball Classic

Washington Wizards' forward, Caron Butler held his annual High School Basketball Classic last evening at Coolidge High.

Teams from Roosevelt Senior High School, Dematha Catholic School, Montrose Christian School, and Coolidge Senior High School not only battled to take home the winning trophy, and bragging rights, but also used the event to help raise funds for their school's athletic departments through ticket sales.

Dematha defeated Coolidge, 71-59 while Montrose won over Roosevelt, 63-47.

Butler collaborated this year with Bread for the City by holding a canned food drive. Attendees who came to the event with canned good items received a certificate for tickets to a future Wizards game.

The event was sponsored by DTLR.

Butler also held his annual bike giveaway today at the Verizon Center, part of the Wizards Care and the Wizards' 12 Days of Holiday Cheer. (See last year's event)

The Wizards are at home tonight facing off with the Boston Celtics who are on an 8-0 win streak. Game time 8pm. **Update** Wizards lose to Boston 106-104.

The Wizards will honor Abe Pollin by wearing an 'ABE' patch on their jerseys for the remainder of the 2009-2010 season.
