NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spent time on Capitol Hill today in a congressional hearing on head injuries in football.
Goodell listened to personal stories from former athletes who have suffered concussions and discussed the lasting impact of head injuries suffered by NFL players. Also testifying are doctors of neurosurgery.
The NFL has long been under fire for not supporting (or paying) retired NFL players who have been diagnosed with alzheimers, CTE, and other neurocognitive disorders believed to be caused by repetitive head trauma sustained in football, but have recently taken steps to educate players on the subject and modify player helmets for better protection and safety.
Watch live here.
Also in attendance: Former New York Giants Tiki Barber, and DeMaurice Smith, NFLPA Executive Director.

Why the sport radio shows talking about this today?
