Caps Owner Invites Season Ticket Holders To Sit With Him In His Box Seat.
You see, that's why the Washington Caps win games.
Not only do they have an excellent owner, coach, and staff, (and of course, players) the Washington Capitals know how to get it done when it comes to appreciating the fans!
The Washington Capitals held their first 'Washington Capitals Convention' for fans on Saturday at the Gaylord Resort (one of my fav spots at the National Harbor). What a neat way for fans to actually interact with the players (and personnel), up close and personal.
The essentials: Complete with an opening ceremony, free food, player accessiblity, fan Q&A with players, and owner (who, win or lose, actually talks to the fans) Ted Leonsis.
I'll repeat... an owner who actually talks to the fans.
"We ARE a hockey town", said Leonsis.
Leonsis invited fans, who can prove they've been season ticket holders for 20 years or more, to sit in his box seat along with him during the upcoming Caps games. Fans must submit an email (see, there - the fans can connect to the team ownver via email) proving they've been ticket holders for that time period.
I'll admit I'm not much of a hockey fan, but you gotta recognize the innovativeness of a team willing to go the extra mile to connect with the people who make the team, and city, competitive - the FANS.
You gotta love it!
The Caps finished up preseason action with a win over the New York Rangers (and former Cap, Donald Brashear), 4-3. Regular season starts Oct 1st. (Seems we just finished last season at the beginning of this summer). Games shown on Comcast, DirectTV's Versus channel, and on the Dish Network.
Sidebar: I remember Leonsis from my early AOL days, and even then, he was always approachable.
