It's More Than A Game

"It Will Always Be About More Than Basketball"

LeBron James (and friends) visited DC this week for a screening of James' new movie, More Than A Game.

The movie, which documents James' storied years at his own high school, Saint Vincent - St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio, follows LeBron and teammates Romeo, Travis, Sian Cotton, Willie McGee, and Dru Joyce III, on the road to a national championship.

All were present during their DC stop that featured a Q&A session moderated by WKYS radio personality, Antonio.

"What was going through your mind when you knew you were going to do this tour", asked the moderator.

"I knew it was going to be a lot of laughs, a lot of jokes. These are guys that I grew up with, so to be able to showcase what we've done as kids....I think it's great", replied James.

"It's great that everybody gets the opportunity to see that it was more than myself back in those high school days. Back when guys thought it was all LeBron, LeBron, LeBron. It was more than that."

James brought along a few other friends along on the tour (sponsored by Nike) including Denver Nuggett forward, Carmelo Anthony.

The LeBron James 'day of basketball' on Friday at Kastles Stadium featured kids from local recreation centers, and neighboring DeMatha and Bishop McNamara high school students who participated in day-long basketball drills, team competition skills and basketball games, culminating with a game between Baltimore's B-More Elite team, and Maryland's team, The Takeover.

Also participating were members of the Goodman League summer basketball games, with its commissioner, Miles Rawls (minus President Obama).

The tour also offered a chance for the DC area to view the new LeBron James basketball shoe, the LB7, also due out in October, around the same time as the movie, More Than A Game .

Each city on the tour will have it's official color version of the new athletic wear. The color for DC is white, trimmed in green, with a gold Nike emblem on the left, and a green Nike emblem on the right side of the shoe. The letters 'DC' are stamped on the back, in gold lettering. The cost of the shoe $200. (Shoe pics)

The movie may be more than about basketball, but at those shoe prices it's definitely all about the money!

No way will I spend $200 on some shoes.

LeBron is a popular figure in sports. I'm sure those shoes will fly off the shelves.
