Update: Pro Am Photos
Tiger talks returning to Congressional to host the 2009 AT&T National; Michael Jackson; and playing against a Dallas Cowboy.
On Returning To This Year's Tournament
"We're looking forward to this week. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend last year. I was at home watching it on the couch, and it wasn't a whole lot of fun, but certainly a lot more fun to get out there and participate and play and see all the service men and women, all the kids that come out to this event. It's certainly become a pretty special event in the short history, very short history.
Just overall the golf course is in great shape. We played it this morning, and I think it's certainly drier than Bethpage, but we're looking forward to getting out there and competing."
On Supporting U.S. Service Men and Women
"Everyone in this room here and everyone should thank all of them for what they do. They do truly put their lives on the line, and a lot of them have gotten hurt. It's the nature of war. That's what happens, and that is the grim reality of it when you see one of the Wounded Warriors is what does happen in war and in combat."
We asked: "Any plans to partner with area golf organizations like DC's historic Langston" (Junior Boys & Girls Golf Club)?
"Specifically, no, I haven't personally looked into it. But I'm sure our staff has."
On Michael Jackson:
"I think everyone here was a Michael Jackson fan. One of, probably if not the greatest entertainer that's ever lived. I think I know my entire generation was influenced by his music."
The tournament kicks off tomorrow with the Earl Woods Pro Am featuring Dallas Cowboy Tony Romo, Redskins' Jason Campbell, and Jessica Simpson singing the National Anthem. Click here for more on that.
Newly crowned U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover, and defending champion Anthony Kim are also headlined at this year's tourney.
Seen on the green: Former Wizards coach, now 76ers coach, Eddie Jordan (and fam) and the NFL's Shannon Sharpe
