The Wizards are known for their third quarter theatrics.
You know, the part of the script where the Wizards are playing well, possibly ahead of their opponent by 20 points (as was the case last night), then something starts to happen and the Wizards start to fall behind, almost make a come back, fall behind, get ahead, a player gets injured, and in the final analysis they lose the game due to foul trouble, turnovers, sloppy ball handling and the like. We all know the script.
Except most of the above happened last evening, and the Wizards still won.
After being up by 20 points (points they should have never relinquished), the Wizards pulled off a 95-93 upset over the Charlotte Bobcats.
Antawn Jamison, the Wizards' backbone (especially with Caron Butler still out of the line up, nursing a pulled hamstring sustained on March 13th over Orlando), etched in 27 points to help clinch the win.
Nick 'the play maker' Young, added 23 off-the-bench points.
Oddly enough, there is nothing that mentions the Wizards' 95-93 win on the Bobcat's website. I wonder why.
Just goes to show you that on any given night in the NBA, you never know who will be the victor.
The Wizards get win number 17 (of 56), putting pressure on the Bobcats for playoff contention.
Nine games, and counting.
Next. Gilbert Arenas to Return To Action This Saturday!
You know the story. Gil gets $100 million dollars (or so) with the hopes of giving ailing owner, Abe Polin, a championship. Gil misses most of last season due to a career changing knee injury; doesn't play at all this season; continues rehabing the knee; has fans wondering if he'll ever return; is seen practicing with team mates; and then, this is where 'amazing happens' (to quote the NBA moniker).
Is Gil poised to make an end-of-the-season comeback?
Interim head coach Ed Tapscott talks about the team's plan for Gilbert to return to the court this Saturday, at home, against Rip Hamilton and the Detroit Pistons.
**How Gil will be received by fans;
**How the team will play with Gil in the line up, and
**If the Wiz will get a win with the return of their star player.
Should we call it an amazing comeback?
Note to Gil: You do know that everyone in the NBA, and that fans (and non fans) around the globe will be watching this one, right?
The NBA. Where amazing does really happen!

"Man, we're just tired of losing", said Young. To that end, the intestinal fortitude that we all know the Wizards can have (at times), prevailed.

“The plan was Saturday and we’re still working towards that end. As we’ve got it planned out right now, he’s going to play in selective games and no back-to-backs.It will be interesting to see, and inquiring minds wanna know:
As we work through the process of making sure that as he comes back we do it in a way that is beneficial to his health and our team development. We’re going to work through that process game-by-game and step-by-step.”
