Interim coach for the Washington Wizards, Ed Tapscott, talked about being the interim coach on yesterday’s John Thompson Show.
Tapscott, who replaced Eddie Jordan two weeks ago after Jordan was relieved of his duties as the Wizards' season spiraled to a disappointing 1-12, said he is in it to win it, and views his new role as a “competitive challenge.”
“I want to make the team better”, said Tapscott who also stated that the team is a “team in process.”
Under Tapscott’s guidance, the Wizards have won two games,(Golden State and Utah Jazz), both at home.
Tapscott admits the biggest challenge about the coaching position is the inexperience of players who have only been in the league a short period; but went on to say the players are “really catching on.”
Meanwhile…
In yesterday’s Washington Post, Wizards' insider, Ivan Carter, reports that former coach, Eddie Jordan is enjoying his time with family and friends.
In good sportsmanlike fashion, Jordan is reported to have no ill feelings towards the organization that fired him, and says he wishes the best for the Wizards team.
“My son and I both clap when the Wizards make a basket”, said Jordan.
Jordan is said to be keeping his options open if, and when, the right opportunity to return to the game he loves so much, presents itself.
“How do you wake up and not think about basketball?”, said Jordan.
