Randle El Warms Up Washington Youth With Winter Coats

Skins’ wide receiver Antwaan Randle El, in association with Dick's Sporting Goods and the Redskins’ Charitable Foundation, provided a little holiday cheer today for students of Concord Elementary School in District Heights, Maryland.

Unbeknownst to the students, Randle El, and a few of his Redskins’ friends that included Rob Jackson, Ladell Betts, Andre Carter, Fred Smoot, and Chris Wilson, stopped by to give students winter coats.

Skins' running back, Ladell Betts, said of the event: “It means a lot.”

“As a kid, I wish I could have had someone come to my school to give back to kids who were less fortunate. For us to be able to come out here and give coats to kids, especially in the winter time, it’s a great feeling.”

Antwaan’s brother, Curtis Randle El, said, “It’s good to be able to interact with the kids, and to see the smiles on their faces. In the past, we had them [the schools] come to us. This year, we’re not just writing a check, we’re here interacting with the kids and seeing the smiles, and the reactions. It gives you that good feeling on the inside to see that you’ve accomplished something.”

Randle El also made a visit to Septima Clarke Public Charter School in Southeast DC earlier in the day.

This year marks the third year Randle El’s foundation (The El Foundation) has provided the winter warmth for students.

Dicks Sporting Goods has donated 350 coats in the community so far.

After the coats (and the gift bags) were handed out, Randle El, along with Andre Carter, admonished the students to study hard and listen to their parents and teachers.

“You can be anything in life you want to be”, said Randle El.”

“Don’t let anyone tell you any different.”
