Howard's Haigler and Mendoza Get Player of the Week Honors!

After getting their first win of the season, two Howard Bison football players earn Player of Week honors.

Bison's Floyd Haigler has been named Co-offensive player of the week and John Mendoza was selected special teams player of the week by the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.

A 6-2, 215-pound red-shirt junior from Orangeburg, SC, Haigler, completed 23 of 33 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns and no interceptions while also rushing for a TD in Howard's 49-21 win over Savannah State this past Saturday. Haigler, who ranks among the Top 5 in the nation in total offense and passing yards, has passed for over 300 yards for the third straight game.

Mendoza was a prefect three-for-three on his field goal attempts, including back-to-back 46 yarders, a career record. The three made field goals was also a personal best for Mendoza, a 5-10, 200-pound junior from Miami, FL.

Willie Carter and Endor Cooper were cited in the Other Top Performers category. Carter, a 6-3, 190-pound freshman wide receiver from Denmark, SC caught six passes for 112 yards and 2 TDs, giving him a team-high five on the season.
