Nat's Bryce Harper gets key to the city

Nat's outfielder Bryce Harper received the key to DC Thursday by D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser.

Bowser tweeted: "On behalf of DC & the 680,000 people who call DC home, it's an honor to present the Key to the City to @Bharper3407!"

Bowser called Harper, "a role model" for the District's youth.

All the Nat's need now - is a title.  #DCsWaiting.

Harper was the Nat's first pick in the 1st round of the 2010 amateur draft at the ripe old age of 19.  He had 42 home runs last year, six steals, 99 RBIs.  He received MVP honors, the Hank Aaron award, and is the recipient of the 2016 Silver Slugger trophies.

Harper introduced his latest accolade: The Harper One signature cleat, available this summer.

The Nats defeated the Braves 4-3 during Atlanta's season opener on Monday and face the Florida Marlins in the Nat's home opener at Nat's Park.

**Update**  The Nats lost their home opener to the Marlins 4-6;  Harper hit home run number ninety-nine (#99).
