Kastles Are Five-Time Winning Champions

The Washington Kastles have done what no other Washington professional sports team has done...ever.

(DC UrbanSports) - THINK: The last time a Washington, D.C. sports team won five championships in eight years was...

Time's up.

Can't remember?   That's because it's never happened in the history of Washington franchise sports.

Yet, the Washington Kastles' professional tennis team has, yet again, managed to win another championship - their fifth - serving the Austin Aces a 24-18 loss in front of a home crowd at Smith Stadium on the campus of George Washington University on Sunday.

From the Washington Kastles...
This was a WTT Finals match loaded with talent on both sides of the court with eight of the nine players ranked in the top 53 in the world in either singles or doubles and five ranked in the top 25. On paper, it was a very even match with the edge, if there was one, to Austin based on the season's results and individual rankings.

Yet, the Kastles players and franchise have a history of rising to the occasion in the biggest matches and against the hardest competition. In addition to winning the multiple championships, the Kastles had actually swept every set in the previous two WTT Finals matches against two other very talented teams.

All five members of the Kastles' roster played a big part in this 2015 team's historic triumph, from returning players Leander PaesMartina Hingis and Anastasia Rodionova, to newcomers Sam Querrey and Madison Brengle.
The championship game was aired on ESPN2.
