Kastles, Serena Williams Serve Dissapointing Home Opening Loss

(DC UrbanSports) - The Washington Kastles were handed a disappointing home opening loss to the Austin Aces last evening at the newly invented Kastles Stadium in the Smith Center near the campus of George Washington University.

The Kastles, along with tennis superstar Venus Williams, lost to the (2-0) Aces, 22-18, behind some outstanding play from Leander Paes who shined brightly in mixed doubles along side Williams.

Williams, overcame a deficit in the women's singles to defeat opponent Nicole Gibbs, 5-3.

Dennis Kudlow, the team's newest member, defeated Teymuraz Gabashvili  in an exciting men's singles tiebreaker, 5-4.

Despite the exciting Kastles' effort the Aces would advance behind the performance of Alla Kudryavtseva in the women's double along with a solid effort by Jermere Jenkins in the men's doubles that would seal the game for the Aces.

Last evening's lost by the Kastles marks just the third time the five-time defending Champions have lost to an opponent at home.

On July 21 the Kastles will welcome 2015 Wimbledon Champion Serena Williams along with Sam Querry.
