VW RallyCross Comes To DC; Track Layout Revealed

A thrilling new track layout was unveiled for Volkswagen Rallycross DC, the third round of the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross Series taking place on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds June 21-22. The exciting 0.5-mile, combination tarmac and dirt course features 10 turns of varying radius and speed, and the famous Red Bull Global Rallycross jump.

“The DC track map looks to be one of the best layouts to date from GRC, with fast straights and wide turns for proper passing,” said Bucky Lasik, Maryland native and 2014 GRC X Games silver medalist.  “I’m really looking forward to showing my speed and race craft in front of the nation’s capital and my neighboring Maryland home.”

The two-day, action-packed event will feature live music, food, entertainment, a VIP club and plenty of great racing.

“We think it’s pretty cool to offer professional racing right here in our nation’s capital, and certainly Volkswagen Rallycross DC will be one of the District’s most exciting events of the summer,” said Erik A. Moses, managing director of Events DC’s Sports and Entertainment Division. “Fans all around the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds will have great views of the race course.”

The main event on Sun., June 22 airs live on NBC at 2 p.m. ET.  Click here for event details.

Note:  Event attendees are invited to bring non-perishable food items or toiletries to donate to SOME (So Others Might Eat), a D.C.-based charity dedicated to serving the poor and homeless in Washington, D.C. SOME barrels will be stationed at Festival Grounds entrances to accept all donations.
