In Time: Derek Jeter Praises LeBron James

Time magazine is doing it again with its TIME 100 for 2013.

The TIME 100 issue represents their choices for the 100 most influential people in the world.  On who makes the endeavor TIME reveals, "doing it, and the cover always presents a special challenge. In some years we put all 100 of them on the cover, with a postage-stamp-size picture of each. This year (it's 10th year) we are trying something new: seven cover portraits of TIME 100 honorees who reflect the breadth and depth of our list, each one profiled inside—as is our tradition—by an equally luminary voice."

In viewing the list, we noticed that LeBron James made the 100 list for TIME's 'Titans'.  This is not the first time (no pun intended) James has made TIME's List of the 100 Most Influential people.

Derek Jeter (out for the season due to an ankle sprain) gave some kind remarks about fellow athlete, LeBron James.

Said Jeter of James, "LeBron never takes a play off. His all-out effort is what stands out when you watch him. Whether his team is up 20 or down 20, LeBron is playing like it’s Game 7 of the NBA Finals. His dedication, devotion and focus have won the admiration of fans — and his athletic peers. He’s someone anyone, in any profession, can look up to. Set the bar high for yourself, like LeBron does."

While Jeter's 'luminary-like' comments are debatable (and less thought provoking than other commenters' comments) at least Jeter took the time to say something nice, (no matter how forced it feels). How Jeter was chosen over other sports luminaries is a wonderment.

James is joined by other Titans including Jay-Z (his wife is one of TIME's 2013 Icons) who gets the nod for transcending from music mogul, to fashion creator, to owner of a sports franchise;and Olympic skier, and girl friend to Tiger Woods, Lindsey Vonn.
