An Eloquent (Yet Succinct) Way of Saying It

When the head coach is MIA, inquiring minds want to know why.

Coach Mike Shanahan was absent during the team's workout yesterday at the Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Camp in Richmond, VA - so the team's PR staff sent out a statement explaining why, as told by Assistant Head Coach/Running Backs Coach, Bobby Turner.

“I just want to say that Coach Shanahan is not here today. He’s attending a funeral of a very close personal friend. Practice went very well as planned. He had everything planned, every detail. Yesterday he informed the team along with the coaching staff that he was going to attend the funeral. If you have any questions, ask Coach Shanahan. The following players did not practice today: Maurice Hurt, an offensive lineman; Eric Kettani, our fullback; Josh LeRibeus, offensive lineman; and Jordan Reed, our tight end. Those players did not participate today, and again, if you have any questions feel free to talk with Coach Shanahan about that. But that’s the reason he’s not here.”

There it is.  In case you were at training camp on Tuesday and didn't see coach, that is why.

The team plays the Tennessee Titans this Thursday at 8 pm, in the first of several pre-season games for the team.
