Protecting Children From Sex Abuse (Amid Penn State Molestation Findings)

"The rock has been lifted and all the bugs are coming out", said Roger Cossack, legal analyst for ESPN and TruTV on the latest revelation behind the Penn State child rape case which says more of the university's staff knew about the sexual molestation of young boys, but did nothing to stop it.

That makes them just as guilty.

As one famous scholar said, "All it takes for evil to exist is for men to do nothing".   That's exactly what happend at Penn State.  At Penn State, there were no whistle blowers.  There were no snitches.   Too many were in on the act. Too many remained silent.  Too many did nothing.

Louis Freeh (FREE), former FBI Director hired by university trustees to investigate the heinous scandal, concluded after eight months of investigating that, "Our most saddening and sobering finding is the total disregard for the safety and welfare of Sandusky's child victims by the most senior leaders at Penn State."   [Full report here]

"The most powerful men at Penn State failed to take any steps for 14 years to protect the children who Sandusky victimized", Freeh said referring to Hall of Fame coach, President Graham Spanier, athletic director Tim Curley and vice president Gary Schultz.
Freeh also made the charge that Penn State coach Joe Paterno, too, was at fault. Paterno "was an integral part of this active decision to conceal", Freeh said.
Paterno was soon after fired from his storied career as the winningest football coach in PSU history.
"Justifiably so", said Freeh.
No one should argue that, no matter the terms of endearment felt for Joe Paterno and his legendary football career.  Surely, no one should put one's coaching prowess ahead of the livelihood, welfare and safety of the young boys parents entrust to the leaders of a university.
.....once we have studied the report and have a better understanding of what it means and how we can implement findings to strengthen Penn State's role as a leading academic institution and ensure that what occurred will never be allowed to happen again. - Penn State University
Paterno died earlier this year, perhaps from the weight of too much guilt.  Sandusky is still awaiting sentencing after being convicted on forty-five criminal counts of abusing young boys - whenever and where ever he saw fit.
Truly a sick, evil, demonic and ungodly man.
Parents try hard as they can to protect their kids from perverts like these men.   Nothing is fail proof.
NIKE (PSU's preferred athletic gear provider) to delete the words 'Joe Paterno'
from its World Headquarters Child Development Center.
Who knew NIKE had a CDC?
I urge all young people; both young males and young females:  If you EVER suspect that a grownup has inappropriately touched you, or said anything to you that made you feel uncomfortable - report it to the proper authorities IMMEDIATELY.
If no one hears you the first time continue to tell someone until you get the help you deserve.  Organizations like this are also available to help.
Parents, here are a few possible warning signs that your child is, or may have been, molested.
