Redskin Pre-Season History
Each of the Redskins’ four 2011 preseason opponents won at least 10 regular season games in 2010, accumulating a 44-20 record. The four teams combined to go 3-3 in the 2010 postseason, culminating in Pittsburgh’s Super Bowl appearance. Washington will play both the Steelers and Colts in the preseason for the 20th time in their history, extending their lead as the Redskins’ most frequent preseason opponents.

Pittsburgh will visit FedExField for the second time in the past three preseasons and the sixth consecutive time since 2000. It will be the first time since 2006 that the Redskins have played their preseason opener at FedExField.

The Redskins have met the Colts franchise on 19 previous occasions in the preseason, but the 2011 game will mark the first time they have met in Indianapolis and will be the Redskins’ first appearance at Lucas Oil Stadium. The teams’ only preseason matchup since a 1981 game at Baltimore was the 2008 Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio.

The Redskins and Ravens will meet in the preseason for the sixth time in seven years (2005-07, 09-11). The clubs also met at Baltimore in the 2008 regular season.

Washington and Tampa Bay have split their 10 prior preseason matchups. The last preseason meeting was a 40-10 Redskins victory on Aug. 24, 2002, at Raymond James Stadium. The two teams are no strangers to each other, though, as they have met seven times in the last eight regular seasons (2003-07, 09-10). They also played one playoff contest in 2005, a 17-10 Redskins victory.
