Former NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champ Joins Randy Moss Motorsports

Travis Kvapil will join Randy Moss Motorsports to race for his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship during the 2011 season. The Janesville, Wis., native will pilot the No. 5 International Truck/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra with veteran crew chief Rick Viers leading the team.

“I’m excited to be competing with Randy Moss Motorsports and International Truck/Monaco RVs for the 2011 season,” commented Travis Kvapil, driver of the No. 5 International Truck/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra. “The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series is a great series with a lot of tough competition, and I’m excited to be there full-time. I’ve had a lot of success racing in the [NASCAR Camping World] Truck Series in the past, and I’m looking forward to winning races and contending for the championship. International Truck and Monaco RVs are great sponsors and supporters and to be able to pair that with a leading competitor like Randy Moss Motorsports makes me very excited to see what we can achieve this season.”

Kvapil, the 2003 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion, has been a dominant force when racing in the truck series since his 2001 debut. In 132 starts, the 34-year-old has collected nine wins, four poles and led nearly 900 laps; all while maintaining an average start of 9.4 and an average finish of 9.8. In his five full seasons of NCWTS competition, the Wisconsin native has never finished outside of the top-10 in the championship point standings.

“We’re really excited about the addition of Travis Kvapil to the International Truck/Monaco RV race team,” said Matt Smela, Global Engine Marketing Director for Navistar, Inc. “His championship background, and drive for top performance, matches up great with all our market leading brands of International Trucks, Monaco RVs and MaxxForce engines. And he’s such a friendly guy, our customers are certain to embrace him from the moment he takes to the track at Daytona.”

“Travis is known for being a fierce competitor and veteran in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series,” commented David Dollar, co-owner of Randy Moss Motorsports. “With his experience racing in the [NASCAR Sprint] Cup Series, we look for Travis to make an immediate impact on the team and become an asset to our organization. He has an impeccable record in the [NASCAR Camping World] Truck Series and everyone at Randy Moss Motorsports is looking forward to having the opportunity to bring home our first championship and Travis’ second title.”

Rick Viers joins Randy Moss Motorsports from Roush Fenway Racing where he served as a crew chief in the NASCAR Nationwide Series throughout the last 21 races of the 2010 season. With 28 years of motorsports experience, Viers has held virtually every title from driver, to owner, mechanic, tire changer, and crew chief. As a crew chief, the Maryland native has recorded eight NASCAR Nationwide Series victories and one win in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

“I’m looking forward to working with Travis Kvapil, Randy Moss, David Dollar and everyone else at Randy Moss Motorsports throughout the 2011 season,” commented Rick Viers, crew chief of the No. 5 International Truck/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra. “Travis has had immense success in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, and to have a driver of his caliber behind the wheel of our Toyota Tundra is very exciting. Everyone at Randy Moss Motorsports has put in a lot of hard work and dedication to make this a championship-caliber team, and I believe that is exactly what you will see the International Truck/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra racing for at the end of the season.”

Travis Kvapil will make his debut with Randy Moss Motorsports next month at Daytona International Speedway. The No. 5 International Trucks/Monaco RVs Toyota Tundra will also sport a new paint scheme which will be used throughout the 2011 season.
