What we STILL do not know is why was Brandon's "life-long friend" being attacked in the first place?

Washington Redskins kick returner Brandon Banks is one of two men who were injured in a stabbing outside a D.C. nightclub.

Banks suffered only superficial wounds, a source told The Washington Post.

A Redskins spokesman confirmed that Banks was injured in the incident, which occurred shortly after 3 a.m. ET Saturday. He was admitted to a hospital in stable condition.

Banks was released from the hospital Saturday afternoon, a source told The Post.

D.C. police said a man pulled a knife after a verbal argument and stabbed two men. Police did not release the names of the victims but say the other victim was hospitalized in critical condition. The suspect -- identified as 24-year-old Jason Shorter of Lanham, Md. -- was taken into custody. He's been charged with assault with intent to kill.

Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie says the team is aware of the incident and is gathering all of the facts.

It happened on the street outside The Park at 14th, an upscale nightclub.

Banks, a rookie out of Kansas State, played in 13 games for the Redskins and amassed 1,155 yards and a touchdown as a kick returner.

Banks, whom we contacted just days ago about starting another Face Book page due to his popularity (he reached his maximum 'Friend Request'), has since removed his former page from the Face Book network.

He is close friends with Wizards' standout John Wall.

We contacted representatives from The Park, and are awaiting a response. No info about the incident is found on the club's Face Book, or web site.
