Military Bowl Rap Up: Maryland Wins Over ECU

Ralph Friedgen's Maryland Terps end the year on a good note with a 51-20 win over ECU in this year's Military Bowl.

"If you have to go out," Friedgen said, "this is the best way to do it."

Friedgen, admitting it will be hard giving up the post he's held for the last ten years, is proud of his team's accomplishments and said after the game, "This team is destined for great things."

Maryland lead early in the game, and never relinguished its reign with the help of Da'Rel Scott who had 13 carries for 200 yards.

Scott's single 91 yard run is the team's longest TD run since Bruce Perry's 80-yard run against Wake Forest on November 29, 2003.

"There's no beating around the bush," ECU's Dominique Davis said of Maryland. "They whooped us from the first play all the way to the end."

ECU played without 30 of its starters.

"We'll bounce back", said ECU coach Ruffin McNeil. "We'll be OK."

Breaking news surrounding the game came when Maryland receiver Torrey Smith announced that he will declare himself eligible for the NFL draft.

I hope Shanahan is listening.
