Beth Langston and her friend Amy won tickets to the event that launched the new Sports Buzz online interactive community that allows fans to interact with athletes.

Both were able to do just that, but live and in person, as many of the Redskins came out to support the event launch of Sports Buzz held at DC's Public Bar.

The two Redskin fans where able to get autographs and take pictures of Chris Cooley, Reed Doughty, Fred Davis, and former Redskin LaVar Arrington who took on fans in a Madden video playing frenzy.

Ray Cohen, Sports Buzz co-founder, said the new business venture was designed to build a better online bridge between fans and athletes - "better than whatever exists today".

Cohen promises fans "unlimited texts, unlimited audio, unlimited video, and images."

Fans won't be able to view NFL games at the site. The focus is more on the athletes talking about the games, or what it is they do when they're not playing football.

With several other teams already being added to the network, Sports Buzz continues its launch tour, next time in New Orleans with the 2009 Super Bowl winners the New Orleans Saints on December 6th.

"We anticipate that we'll have well over six teams with well over one hundred players participating", said Cohen whose ultimate ambition is to have the entire NFL on board.

Sports Buzz is in direct competition with other social media outlets like Twitter and FaceBook where athletes can communicate directly with fans. But unlike Twitter, or FaceBook with character limitations, SportsBuzz will not have those limits.

"We have to make sure it's worth the time for both the fan and the athlete", said Cohen.

Judging from the Redskin fan and player turnout last evening, things look promising.

The Skins are in action at home this Sunday where they take on the hampered Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings.

On the Redskins season, Cohen says the Redskins team has had an up and down season but thinks they have gotten themselves back on track.

The Skins (5-5) defeated the Tennessee Titans last week in another nail biting episode, 19-16, in overtime.

Amy who has been watching the Redskin play since 1968 critiqued this year's season and summed it up pretty well. "They kill me", she said. I'm going to have heart attack watching them."
