With several Washington Kastles players performing quite well at Wimbledon 2010 (Leander Paes winning his second Grand Slam mixed doubles title of the year; Rennae Stubbs reaching the semifinals in mixed doubles with Marcelo Melo (BRA) and the quarterfinals in women's doubles with Lisa Raymond (USA), and Serena Williams winning it all over Vera Zvonareva 6-3, 6-2) the Kastles have begun the 2010 World Team Tennis (WTT) season and are gearing up for Wednesday's home opener at Kastles Stadium.
The home opener will feature its newest Kastles member, Venus Williams, in her first appearance as she takes on Martina Hingis, a 14-time Grand Slam champion and member of the visiting Buzz.
The Kastles suffered their season opener with a loss last evening, 21-20, in a supertiebreaker to the New York Sportimes after mounting a remarkable comeback to tie the match.
