The Capital Criterium, the fifth stop of the nine-race USA CRITS series of professional cycling criteriums and this year, is being held in support of D.C.’s bid to host the opening stages of the 2012 Giro d’Italia. Race-day activities include professional and amateur races, kids’ safety races, a celebrity charity ride featuring special guests Mayor Adrian Fenty, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton and Italian Ambassador Giulio Terzi, a lifestyle expo featuring cycling, green and health/fitness exhibitors and a live performance by the Morrison Brothers Band.
The event takes place Sunday, July 11, 2010 and will start and finish on Pennsylvania Avenue between 12th & 13th Streets.
