Washington Capitals' Convention Moves To The Convention Center

The Washington Convention and Sports Authority (WCSA) announced today that the Washington Capitals will host the 2010 Capitals Convention at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on Saturday, October 2.

The Capitals Convention was a tremendous success in its first year, attracting a sold-out crowd of more than 5,000 to a day-long interactive and informational celebration of the Capitals, featuring the entire roster of current players and a number of prominent alumni.

“The Washington Capitals are a valued member of the Washington area community; and in celebration of one of D.C.’s signature sports franchises, we are ecstatic to bring the Capitals Convention to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center,” said Erik A. Moses, managing director for the WCSA Sports, Entertainment and Special Events Division. “Caps fans now have the chance to celebrate and learn about the team close to where they cheer them on each season. There is tremendous excitement surrounding the team and we look forward to helping grow the event each year.”

Tickets go on sale Monday, June 14, to season-ticket holders and Wednesday, June 16, to the general public at WashingtonCaps.com.

Fan Fest will be held on the final day of the Capitals Development Camp, which will be held July 12-17 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va. The entire camp is open to the public (complete on-ice schedule still TBD), with a scrimmage set for Saturday, July 17, at 10 a.m. In addition to the scrimmage Fan Fest will feature the team’s annual equipment sale, inflatable games and autograph sessions. Season-ticket holders will have the first opportunity to shop at the equipment sale; details on that opportunity will be sent to each account in this week’s planholder update.
