Another 'Not Really Sports Related' Moment

LeVar Arrington gets interviewed at US Dream gala last evening. His wife, Trishia, looks on.

Several sports figures came out last evening in support of Grammy winning recording artist, and pastor, Wintley Phipps' annual gala benefitting the US Dream Academy, a non profit organization that provides enrichment opportunities to children of incarcerated family members.

Among our local sports figures in attendance were former Redskins Darryl Green, former Redskin LaVar Arrington, and Rick 'Doc' Walker.

The gala honored actress Angela Bassett, former CBS news anchor (and Obama opinionator) Dan Rather, actor Charles S. Dutton, Judge Joe Brown, and Executive Vice President and CFO of MLB's Office of the Commissioner, Jonathan Mariner.

The very talented vocalist, and YouTube sensation Charice Pempengo, along with the US Dream Academy kids, provided the evening's entertainment.

The event was hosted for the third time by News Channel 8's Cynne' Simpson, and comedian/actor Chris Tucker whose mom Mary Bryant Tucker was also honored for her community service work with youth in her home state of Georgia.
