Men of Style Award Honors DC's Trend Setters and Style Icons

Redskins Fred Smoot was honored last evening during the Gillette Fusion and Rolling Out Magazine Men of Style Awards.

The awards honored local barbers and men considered to be arbiters of good taste and great style in Washington, DC.

In essence, Smoot told the small crowd that he knows the fans' are expecting better from the Redskins, and he thanked true fans for hanging in there with the Skins.

"Just hold on, it's going to get better", said Smoot.

The Skins face the 11-0 New Orleans Saints this Sunday at FedEx Field.

Smoot won the honor for his distinguished style of dress and community involvement, as were the other honorees. He was joined by DC Council member Kwame Brown (rear, 3rd left), CNN Contributor Roland Martin, 'W' Hotel general manager Ed Baten (rear 2nd right), and attorney/businessman Michael Melton (rear, center).


Barbers honored included Michael Craig, Renaldo Williams /Technicolor Salon and Spa (front center), Kevin Williamson/MidTown Barbers(rear 4th left), Hangtime Barbers, and Robert Freeman (Freeman Barbers), and hair/fashion stylist, Glenn Jackson (far right).

The honorees are not only at the top of their game when it comes to styling and grooming their clients, they make significant contributions to the community. Their contributions range from providing scholarships and mentoring programs for youth, to community and business development.

The event was hosted by Fonzworth Bentley and WKYS radio personality Jeannie Jones.

The event, part of a five-city tour that includes Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, Chicago and DC, continues Tuesday for an MVP Experience with Vivica Fox and Kenny Burns at Cuts Unlimited and will feature complimentary shaves and skin care, compliments of Gillette Fusion. Register.
