Mystics Release 2010 Schedule

The 2010 Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) schedule was released today by the league office. The Washington Mystics will kick off the team’s 13th campaign on the road for the second consecutive year with a Saturday, May 15 date against the WNBA Championship Finalist Indiana Fever. Tip-off at Conseco Fieldhouse is at 7:00 p.m. The Mystics will host the club’s home opener on Friday, May 21 at 7:00 p.m. against the New York Liberty.

Washington’s annual camp day game for local children’s camps and groups will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m. against the Atlanta Dream. The Mystics will play the majority of its games on the weekends with three Fridays, four Saturdays and five Sundays. The rest of the contests are distributed across two Tuesdays, one Wednesday and two Thursdays. In addition, Washington will host Indiana for an ESPN2 game on Tuesday, June 29 at 7:00 p.m. The Mystics will again be on National television when they visit the Dream in Atlanta on Tuesday, August 3 at 7:30 p.m.

“We are excited for the 2010 season and we are pleased to once again provide WNBA basketball at affordable prices,” Mystics Chief Operating Officer Greg Bibb stated. “The 2010 Mystics home slate will provide a little something for everyone as we pursue a WNBA Championship.”

The Mystics will have the sixth overall pick in the WNBA draft to be held in April. In addition, the Mystics will have the ninth pick in the first round, the 14th and 18th pick in the second round and the 30th pick in the third round. Washington recently added guard Kristin Haynie with the sixth pick from the dispersal draft of the Sacramento Monarchs.

In 2009, Washington continued to experience growth and saw a 24.6% increase in attendance. The Mystics finished the season as the league leaders in attendance while increasing total ticket revenue by 20%.

The Washington Mystics made a return to the playoffs following a 16-18 campaign.
