Redskins' Antaawn Randle El and the National Association On Teen Fitness & Exercise (NATFE) joined areas students in various exercises and demonstrated healthy eating alternatives at the Heat Haven center in South East, DC last evening.

Randle El, who has five children, understands the need to keep kids healthy and exericising.

"It's a wonderful event to help kids get into exercising. I hope they keep having it."

The wide receiver says his own kids, who vary in age from teens, tweens, to a one year-old, says even simple exercises done in the basement of his home helps keep his kids fit and healthy.

The youth at Heat Haven were selected from various DC recreation centers (including Bald Eagle, Fort Davis, Watkins, and Arboretum) who made a school year commitment to exercising to improve their overall fitness.

The students have been charting their fitness progress since the beginning of the '09 school year.

Those who were successful in the program were rewarded for their success. One of their rewards will be free tickets to the December 6th Redskins home game against the New Orleans Saints.

Last evening's event was in concert with the American Heart Association, Councilman Barry's office on fitness, and the Redskins Charitable Foundation to promote healthy diet and exercise in the Ward 8 area of Washington, DC.
