Bringing the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to the Capital region, The Ultimate Warrior Challenge presented it's seventh event last evening at Fairfax Virginia's Patriot Center.

Mike 'The Hulk' Easton (9-1-0) won a Split Decision over Chase Beebe (12-5-0). The two were scheduled to battle last February at UWC Man “O” War, only to have the fight cancelled at the last-minute when Beebe pulled out with a training injury.
Easton, who trains out of Lloyd Irvin's facility in Maryland said of his win:
“As long as UWC keeps bringing in quality opponents like John Dodson, I’ll be ready to come back and defend the belt.”
“One of the next big things in MMA is going to be the growth and development of the flyweight division in the United States. The reality is there is enormous talent out there and we believe we’ve found some of the best and hungriest to prove themselves", said UWC founder and CEO Marcello Foran.
Iman “Mannie” Achhal (2-0-0), making her second UWC appearance, won via TKO over Sumie Sakai (2-3-1) at 2:30 in 2nd round. Achhal fled her native Morroco home land to escape an arranged marriage. Upon her arrival to the US she struggled to make ends meet and surviving nearly a decade of poverty and periods of homelessness. The win last evening solidifies her as a bonafide fighter in a male dominated MMA sport.

Freddy Assuncao (1-0) wins via Unanimous Decison over Felipe Ariantes (0-2)|Jesse Riggleman (6-0-0) won a Split Decision over Josh Ferguson (7-3-0)| Kris 'Savage' McCray (4-0-0) TKO'd Igor Almeida (5-1-1) 49 seconds into the 1st round | Jacob McClintock (6-0-0) TKO'd Beau Baker (7-3-0) 3:30 into the 1st round | Timothy Woods (5-2-0) TKO Ryan Sturdy (11-4-1) 35 seconds of 3rd round | Kyle Baker (8-4-0) TKO'd Tommy Truex (5-3-0) in 4:59 of 1st round.
