More Changes....Out At Redskins Park

As the Skins prepare to take on the Carolina Panthers this Sunday, more news to report.

The Redskins have signed punter Glenn Pakulak to their 53-man roster from their practice squad. To make room on the active roster, Washington released defensive end Renaldo Wynn.

As we mentioned earlier in the week, Pakulak was signed to the Redskins practice squad this past Tuesday. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder, from Kentucky saw his first NFL regular season action with New Orleans in 2008, playing in eight games. He punted 24 times for a 47.7-yard average and a 37.8-yard net average. He placed three punts inside the 20.

“He has got a strong leg. He gets great hang time. He doesn’t wear out, he just kicks. How many more do you want coach? So he is ready to go, he is very ready to go. He is not very fragile that way”, is how head coach Jim Zorn described the newly assigned punter.

The 29-year-old Pakulak spent parts of the 2009 preseason with New Orleans and the New York Jets. Pakulak, a Pontiac, Mich., native, joined the NFL as an undrafted rookie free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in 2003. He has also had stints with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders.

Pakulak is expected to replace Hunter Smith who is still sidelined with a groin injury sustained in last week's 16-13 win over Tampa Bay.

Wynn, a 13-year veteran, signed with the Redskins on March 24, 2009 as an unrestricted free agent. He was inactive for all four games this season. Wynn had a five-year stint in Washington from 2002-06.

What now for Renaldo? Will the Redskins bring him back again for the 3rd time? Or will Wynn pursue a broadcasting career he prepped for during training camp?

Keep it here to find out.
