Wizards Antawn Jamison at 1st Annual WEEN Awards

Wizards forward Antawn Jamison takes time out to show his support for the Woman In Entertainment Empowerment Network (WEEN).

Jamison and his wife, Ione, attended the first annual awards ceremony that awarded and recognized the likes of Vivica A. Fox, Malinda Williams, MC Lyte, former Obama college mate, Hill Harper, and HIV/AIDs activist Maria Davis for their efforts in promoting the positive portrayal of women and young girls.

Jamison, forward for the Wizards, told us that the team looks good, and is ready to go this season, especially Gilbert.

Fans are looking to the return of Gilbert since having a several surgeries to repair the knee that has sidelined his career for most of three seasons.

The team starts training camp this week on the campus of my alma mater, VCU. Training camps will feature four two-a-day training sessions in the campus' Verizon Wireless Arena.

The Wizards signed free agents center Paul Davis ('06 Clippers draftee) and Vincent Grier (Miami/Minnesota) to this season's practice squad.

The Wizards picked up Mike Miller and Randy Foye during the '09 NBA draft, and traded Etan Thomas, Darius Songaila, and Oleksiy Pecherov to Minnesota.
