Redskins Read! (To Area Kids That Is)

Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation marks the distribution of the 1 millionth Redskins Read Activity Book with a reading celebration featuring the 2009 Redskins Rookie class of Kevin Barnes, Robert Henson, Jeremy Jarmon, Marko Mitchell, J.D. Skolnitsky, Edwin Williams, and Darrel Young.

The rookies read How Much Is a Million? by David Schwartz to local students from Burrville Elementary School in Washington, DC; Barcroft Elementary School in Arlington, VA; Cora L. Rice Elementary School in Landover, MD, along with students from Farmland Elementary School in Rockville, MD.

Redskins players will read to over 300 area children from Washington, DC, Virginia, and Maryland to celebrate literacy.

In addition, Redskins players kickoffed the annual literacy contests featured in the Redskins Read Activity Books. The contests (one for 1st – 3rd graders and one for 4th – 6th graders) encourage creativity by having students use their imaginations and creative writing skills to craft mini-essays.
