The Washington Redskins Celebrate USA Football Month

The Washington Redskins and USA Football, the sport’s national governing body on youth and amateur levels and Official Youth Development Partner of the NFL, the NFLPA and all 32 teams, will celebrate USA Football Month as they host 1,550 youth football players from over 37 different area youth football organizations on Friday, August 28 when the Redskins take on the Patriots at FedExField.

The highlight of the youth football celebration will be two half-time scrimmages with Prince George’s Country Silver Hill Bears facing off against McLean Mustangs of Fairfax County and the Central Loudoun County Cardinals taking on the Beacon House Falcons of Washington, DC. The teams that score the most touchdowns in 5 minutes will be the winners.

Players and coaches from the scrimmaging teams will stand on the sidelines with Washington Redskins players and with the New England Patriots for the singing of the National Anthem. Additionally, the official Coin Toss Observer and Kick-Off Kids for the game will represent members of three different youth football organizations Charles H. Flowers High School, Springdale, MD and the Blackwell Community Center and Hotchkiss Community Center both of Richmond, VA. All participating youth football players are among 1,550 youth attending today’s game and part of the 100,000 youngsters who will attend preseason games nationwide as part of USA Football Month team-donated tickets program.

Tonight's game also will feature in-stadium promotion through “USA Football” field stencils, banners, public address announcements and JumboTron video messages.

USA Football is also distributing team branded “Captain’s Packs” free of charge through usafootball.com to the first 6,000 youth football leagues wishing to recognize youngsters’ leadership qualities. By receiving a free Captain’s Pack, youth coaches obtain 25 “C” Captain jersey patches, 200 helmet decals, and 25 Captain’s Pledges that a young player signs as a commitment to good sportsmanship.
