Skins Defeat Super Bowl Champs!

Starting QB Nil On Pass Completions.

With Clinton Portis, Santana Moss, Albert Haynesworth and DeAngelo Hall in the lineup, the Redskins manage a win over the contending Super Bowl champions the Pittsbugh Steelers, 17-13, leaving some to wonder if backup quarterback, Chase Daniel was the reason for the win.

Daniel got his chance starting in the second quarter, and finished with 6-of-8 passes for 58 yards, with two TDs, versus Campbell's 10 yards where he completed just 1 of 7 passes, without a touchdown.

Daniel's first TD on the night, and perhaps the most memorable game highlight, came when he tossed a 3-yard touchdown pass to rookie Marko Mitchell and later, in the third quarter, an 18-yard TD to TE Fred Davis to seal the win.

Davis celebrated by doing the Stanky Leg after he made the TD, and again at the Redskins Car show Sunday at Redskins Park.

Another positive, the Skins looked a lot better this time out, gaining 304 total yards, albeit the Steelers were without their starting quarterback, Ben Roethlisburger, who was out with a foot injury sustained in a practice session last week.

Rookie Brian Orakpo (continuing to show why he was the number one draft pick) made big plays and had four tackles.

Players, like Albert Haynesworth (and others), hoping to get a starting spot (and those wanting to remain) on the Redskins' roster will have to show themselves worthy by bringing all they have in upcoming preseason games.

We can only hope Jason Campbell feels the same. At this juncture (though it's still early in the season), Campbell is going to have to come correct, or (and we hate to say it) - step off.

A 1 of 7 on completed passes just won't do. Not for Redskins fans in this area.

Come correct, Jason. Come correct.

The Redskins face the Patriots on August 28th, and complete the preseason at Jacksonville on Sept. 3 against the Jaguars, before readying themselves for the NY Giants in regular season action September 13th. (Schedule)
