My Name Is Not Susan! (Nor Is It Jerome)

I couldn't help but think of the the 1990s song by Whitney Houston when I saw this 'other' faux pas last night while watching the Redskins/Ravens game.

While our Redskins were battling it out in a 0-23 preseason game loss to the Baltimore Ravens, someone was making it harder to identify Redskins' running back, LaDelle Betts.

Someone, inadvertently (at least we hope), embroidered the last name of former Steelers' running back Jerome Bettis on the back of Betts' jersey.

Maybe it was the preseason jitters that caused the Skins not to score one measely point, (much less get close to the Steeler's end zone last night), and caused another player's name to be sewn on the team's jersey in front of a team that just beat you pretty badly (giving them more impetus to point out the things that went terribly wrong with the team).

Perhaps someone was just anticipating the Skins getting the opportunity to meet (and hopefully beat) the defending Superbowl champs (who actually did manage to score points over their rival) when they play next Saturday in Pittsburgh.

Either way, Bettis retired from playing in the NFL two years ago.
