HU's Lady Bison Picked Second In MEAC Preseason Poll

The Howard volleyball team has been chosen to finish second in the Northern Division in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Poll as selected by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

“Pre-season polls are like compliments, it feels good to know people like or respect your talents but ultimately, it’s what you do during the season that really matters,” head coach Orlando Larracuente said.

The Lady Bison, who finished the 2008 season with a 7-3 league record, received a first-place vote and 187 points in the Northern Division poll. Maryland Eastern Shore received 20 first-place votes and 257 total points to claim the top spot.

Delaware State (184 pts), Morgan State (149 pts) and Hampton (145 pts) round out the Northern Division poll.

Defending MEAC champion Florida A&M received 19 first-place votes and a total of 253 points to garner top honors in the Southern Division.

Bethune-Cookman (187 pts), South Carolina State (183 pts), Norfolk State (169 pts) and North Carolina A&T round out the Southern Division.
