SneakerBall To Award The Best In Washington Sports

Fans Can Cast Their Vote For Fav Athlete

For the first time in the event’s history, SneakerBall, the Greater Washington Sports Alliance’s signature charity gala, will present awards to honor the best in Washington D.C. area sports.

Beginning with a global online voting campaign on July 15th, sports fans will pick the winners in categories honoring excellence in athletic performance, franchise leadership, community support and media coverage. A selection committee comprised of local sports legends, broadcasters and political figures select nominees in the following categories:

Sports Executive of the Year/Corporate Sponsor of the Year/Best Team Mascot Award/
Best Sports Feature Award/Solid Character Award Presented by SunTrust Bank/Best Sports Play Award Presented by MTM Builder/Developer

Fans will be able to vote online from July 15th to September 4th by visiting the Greater Washington Sports Alliance SneakerBall website.

Winners of the voting campaign will be announced LIVE during SneakerBall VI on September 15, 2009 at the National Building Museum.

SneakerBall is the only black tie and sneakers gala that annually celebrates the best of sports in the Greater Washington D.C. region. The event is organized to benefit the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Foundation, which is made up of six local charities and creates avenues for corporate philanthropy to enhance the region’s youth sports programs and facilities. SneakerBall is one of Washington, D.C.’s signature galas held at the National Building Museum with over 1,000 attendees, more than 50 professional athletes & Olympians, the Greater Washington sports franchise ownership groups, leaders of the region’s business community and the Sports Alliance charitable partners.
