Another 'Not Really Sports Related' Moment

Washington, DC: Where the Jobs Are!

At least that's what two DC job fairs indicate.

Thousands lined up around the National Building Museum, and the DC Convention Center for job fairs in the District yesterday.

"It's because of Obama's call for volunteering and service that has inspired people", said Tim McManus Vice President Education and Outreach for Partnership For Public Service.

McManus speculates that more than six thousand people (up four thousand from last year) attended the internship and career fair from all over the country due to their partnership with over 700 colleges and universities.

He also credits social networking sites like Facebook for creating awareness of the event.

On the other side of town, the annual DC Delegate, Eleanor Holmes Norton Job Fair convened, for DC residents only.

Who's hiring?

DoD, CIA, FBI, Washington Gas, Freddie Mac, US Secret Service, Capitol Police, Sibley Hospital, Dimensions Heath Care, DC Convention Center, Advantage Staffing, WMATA, GEICO, Pepco Holdings, NPR, the EPA, Federal Trade Commission, Department of Labor, Department of Treasury, and the Congressional Budget Office, to name a few.

Go to their websites and click on their 'Careers' link to find a job that suits you!

Thanks to Del Eleanor Holmes Norton, and the 7th Annual Public Service Career and Internship Fair for putting DC back to work!

Being optimistic: With this list, I should have a job by Monday!

Kudos to the staff of the PPS for beginning on time, keeping the lines moving at a steady pace, and providing water for the job seekers during one of the hottest summer days in DC.
